“I Don’t Need Help with my Money”; Tips to Prevent Fraud and Identity Theft
Managing finances can become more difficult as a person ages. For caregivers of older adults, taking on this responsibility can be especially challenging as it represents a significant loss of independence for their loved ones.
Private, sensitive, and closely guarded by many seniors, financial assets are more than numbers in an account. Barbara will address the ways in which a Daily Money Manager can help caregivers deal with resistance, tend to routine bill-paying, and protect their loved one from a growing number of scams aimed at the elderly.
Barbara Boustead is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Daily Money Manager (DMM). In 2011 she launched Mary’s Daughter LLC, which was named after her mother Mary who passed away in 2014.
Mary’s Daughter assists older adults, their families and veterans with bill-paying and financial organization. Services also include opening and sorting mail, reconciling financial statements, organizing legal and medical documents and acting as liaison on behalf of her clients.
In 2017, Barbara received the Social Work Lifetime Achievement award from the South Central Wisconsin chapter of NASW-WI and later that year was awarded the Distinguished Social Work Award from NASW-WI.
Barbara is an active member of the American Association of Daily Money Managers (AADMM). She is on the AADMM Board of Directors and is Chairperson of the Public Awareness Committee.
